How To minimize pores easily

By

The pores you live with were determined long before your troublesome teens and way before that night you slept with your make-up on; they’re determined by genetics and no matter how much you wish you could change them, you can’t. The good news is pore refining moisturizers can actually lessen the appearance of large pores because their ingredients are carefully balanced to include little or no oil, which can clog pores of any size.

If you have oily skin and the large pores that unfortunately come with it, be careful when selecting a moisturizer, as there are several options on the market. A good refining moisturizer should, first and foremost, aim to hydrate your skin. Once your skin is happy, your oil glands and pores calm down and they won’t produce so much oil. Moisturizers can also contain ingredients which aid in clearing out your pores like salicylic or glycolic acid, anti-aging ingredients like vitamins C and E, and retinol, but be careful with these, as they can irritate sensitive skin. Many moisturizers are either mineral oil based or contain it as one of the primary ingredients. This fine oil is great for easy-to-manage skin but can clog larger pores overnight. Once this happens, you’ll need to follow a strict regimen of deep-cleaning and sometimes harsh facial cleansers just to get rid of the stuff, followed up with pore minimizers or reduction creams, which, face it, oftentimes don’t work.

Oily skin

For those of us with oily skin, reserve the mineral oil for your elbows, knees and feet. Instead, opt for moisturizers that are infused with more water-soluble oils, often extracted from nuts and fruits. Macadamia oil, for example, is a source of palmitoleic acid, also found in human sebum. Known as vanishing oil, it can be absorbed very quickly into the skin where it belongs and off the surface where other oils clog pores. Other ingredients to look for in a good pore refining moisturizer should provide vitamins A, D, and E. These vitamins work to retain elasticity and vibrancy, both qualities sacrificed in skin suffering from clogged pores. The options for facial products are seemingly endless and, while you may sometimes wish you could change this along with your genes, you can’t. However, armed with the knowledge of which ingredients your skin type craves, you can manage one more part of your daily routine a little better.

Some great products available at most drug stores include: Biore Pore Perfect Shine Control Moisturizer Biore SkinPreservation Dual Fusion Moisturizer + SPF 30 Clean & Clear Finishes Pore Perfecting Moisturizer SPF 15 Kiss My Face Peaches & Cream Moisturizer (4 oz) Perricone MD’s Ceramic Skin Smoother Cost varies from store to store and region to region but most of these products can be found for under $15. If there’s a more expensive option, be sure to know just why you’re paying more and don’t be afraid to ask a beauty consultant or pharmacist for more information.
